Digging around on an old data backup DVD, I found these little gems. This video contians two clips that, collectively, are the first two videos I ever posted on the internet and the oldest remaining ones I’ve ever produced. It was several years ago on an unnamed forum, but I was demonstrating a couple of things in GBA Metroid games and these videos ended up as 160×120 videos to save bandwidth. Ah, those were the days. The first half of the video is in Metroid Zero Mission, demonstrating the Morph Ball Bomb jumping technique to reach something or other early. If my memory of the NES game serves me correctly, I believe that was the Varia Suit up there. It’s nothing particularly noteworthy, but it’s a fun application of good timing. The second half is the infamous Metroid Fusion Shinespark demonstration that is extremely difficult to pull off, but awards the player with an easter egg should they get back to the Navigation Room after escaping Sector 4 without grabbing the Diffusion Missile. This, at the time it was originally posted, was one of the first (if not THE first) videos on the internet demonstrating the procedure. Back when I first made these, I was smart enough to save the source clips for a day like this. They weren’t recorded with audio, though, so enjoy this earworm of a track from Metroid Prime 3. I recorded these using my first recording equipment with my first recording software, and the quality reeks as a result. I didn’t have the right tools to do anything
